The Washington State University research team has confirmed through a series of experiments that astaxanthin is a very powerful immune system booster. Experimental studies have shown that astaxanthin can:
1. Stimulates the expansion of lymphocytes
2. Increase the total amount of antibodies capable of producing B cells
3. Produce more T cells
4. Enhance natural cytotoxic activity
5. Significantly enhances the response of delayed type hypersensitivity
6. Effectively reduce DNA damage.
The researchers pointed out in their article that "Although astaxanthin, canthaxanthin and β-carotene can inhibit tumor growth, astaxanthin has the strongest antitumor activity".
Astaxanthin supports healthy immune function in many ways, just as astaxanthin fights inflammation in many ways.
