2. An explosion and subsequent fire occurred at German chemicals giant BASF's main plant in Ludwigshafen on July 29,2024. On July 31, BASF issued an updated statement saying that the accident device was used for the production of aroma ingredients and precursors for vitamin production. This accident may lead to the shortages of vitamins A and E and affect prices of related products.
