Usage


Octreotide acetate has a wide range of effects. The drug can inhibit the secretion of growth hormone, gastrin, and enterokin, reduce visceral blood flow, and can be used for the treatment of patients with varices bleeding caused by cirrhosis. Because it inhibits gastrin, it can also be used for the treatment of gastrinoma. Inhibition of growth hormone can be used for the treatment of growth hormone releasing factor tumors, which can effectively relieve symptoms and signs. It can also be used to treat some refractory acromegaly, reduce the concentration of growth hormone, and also inhibit the secretion of glucagon, insulin and other hormones.

In common to various degrees with other GLP-1 receptor agonists, liraglutide has advantages over more traditional therapies for type 2 diabetes: ·         Liraglutide acts in a glucose-dependent manner, meaning it will stimulate insulin secretion only when blood glucose levels are higher than normal, preventing "overshoot".
